Favor Of The Dragon

Favor of the Dragon

This technique increases the odds of finding power-ups with fallen enemies. On Hard and Jademaster difficulty it also increases the chances of getting power-ups out of Harmonic Combos.

Favor of the Dragon

increases the odds of finding power-ups with fallen enemies. While the Guild of today may seem to be nothing but a crime syndicate, it wasn't always so. The Guild is a very old organization and it once truly was, what it is now in name only: The congregation of the Empire's greatest warriors. Warriors who were the Empire's most loyal servants and performed marvelous deeds that would be the stuff of legend, had the present pitiful leadership not tainted the Guild's reputation and shamed its glorious past. And since no one speaks favorably of the Guild anymore, it is no longer known who that legendary warrior was, who once saved the Air Dragon's life and was rewarded with the secret knowledge of Harmonic Combos in return. That, of course, was very much in the interest of the late Kai Lan, for the world has also forgotten, that certain parts of that secret knowledge were never taught to anyone outside the Guild...

Found in Kai Lan's stash after defeating him in the arena

A Nose For Danger

A Nose For Danger

This technique allows you to detect traps.

A Nose For Danger

enables you to sniff out traps As if Rat Demons' noses weren't big enough, there's something about their sense of smell, that's even bigger than their noses. Rat Demons have developed sniffing to something of a fine art form. For years and years the little ratlings are taught by their kin to sniff out what's delicious and what might kill them. That's pretty much all they teach them, by the way - at least the ones that aren't eaten by their own pack... The Rat Demon Ducksniffer showed you a few sniffing tricks out of gratitude for sparing his life. To sniff out traps, you have to tilt your head slightly to the left and a little backwards. Try to hold your nose in a 35 degrees angle to the ground. Yes, just like that. Unless, of course, it's an explosive trap, in which case you should tilt your head to the other side. Oh, and don't forget to exhale through the mouth! No, *your* mouth!

Given to you by a Rat Demon in the ruins of old Tien's Landing if you spare his life

The Inner Glow

The Inner Glow

This technique grants your the ability to regenerate your stats while you are not in combat. How quickly you regenerate depends on your alignment.

There is a certain side quest in chapter 3 with multiple possible outcomes. If you achieve the resolution that is most in tune with the path of the Open Palm, you will receive this technique as a reward. Only players who are Open Palm already will be able to acquire it. And should you fall from this path, you will lose the technique.

The Inner Glow

While you are not in combat your health, chi and focus regenerate all by themselves. The closer you follow the path of the Open Palm, the quicker you will regenerate. Should you ever fall from the righteous path, your ability to regenerate will fade and you might lose it alltogether. If you accept the light of the world to shine into your soul, you can learn to focus this light and - if you're open enough - become a beacon yourself - quite alike those Focus and Chi shrines you've seen - and replenish your energy from your own source. But if you close your hand to a fist, you close yourself off to the light and the inner glow is extinguished by inner darkness.

This technique is the Open Palm counterpart to the Heart of Darkness.

In one of the tombs of the Necropolis in the Imperial City you will find Mad Wen Zhi who has the "crazy" idea of saving his daughter's life with a liver transplant. He asks you to go to the grave of the evil Ji Xin and harvest the organ from him. Giving the liver is Ji Xin's one chance to find redemption. If you manage to convince him to use it, you will receive this technique as a reward.

Cobra Venom

Cobra Venom

This vicious technique makes the effects of the Viper poison last longer. A truly mean-spirited warrior could use this to keep his enemies poisoned while attacking them with other styles. Not exactly what a good sportsman would do, is it?

Cobra Venom

increases the duration of the Viper style's poison effect Viper is - contrary to popular belief - not strictly speaking a martial arts style. Since it relies heavily on the use of poison, it could also be called a weapon style. People forget this aspect, because, unlike the movements which have evolved over the centuries, the recipe for the poison has been the same for as long as the style is known. Not, that there've never been attempts to make the poison more deadly, mind you. But the trick is to find one that is not only dangerous to the victim, but can also be "handled" by the attacker. And so all of these wannabe-innovators died a premature death - quite literally at their own hands. There is a rumour however that there is a certain female grandmaster of this style, who is also exceptionally proficient in the art of poison making. She has, so the rumour goes, created a new poison whose effects last significantly longer. Presumably she did so by adding another snake's venom to the viper venom...

Available in Sweet Poison Lyn's shop in the Imperial Arena after you have reached Silver rank

The Triple Tongue

The Triple Tongue

This technique enhances all three of your rhetorical skills. You can generate this technique with Lord Lao's furnace.

The Triple Tongue

Charm +12 Intimidation +12 Intuition +12 You've got to hand it to Kang: For someone so completely insane and impractical, he certainly invents useful things. How someone with his lack of rhetorical skills can invent a machine that enhances these skills in its user, is a mystery. Not as big a mystery as why he didn't use the machine on himself, but still, a mystery. But maybe there is no mystery. Maybe he tried to invent something different altogether? Probably something explosive... To be on the safe side, you should speak very slowly from now on!

Received after using the Configuration of the Tiger at Lord Lao's Furnace.

Relentless Hand

Received either from Master Radiant or from Master Smiling Hawk after defeating the other master in the Black Leopard school in the Imperial City.

Path of the Studious Scholar

Path of the Studious Scholar

Every time your character reads a book a small fraction of your current experience is added to the total. The more experience you have already, the more you gain from reading a book. This technique increases that effect even further.

Path of the Studious Scholar

grants you more experience from reading books Those who don't know anything like to think that knowledge is about memorizing facts. But those who know enough to know, that they don't know enough, know that knowledge is about discovering that facts are connected. It is the knowledge of connections between facts that makes the knowledge of facts valuable. The more you know, the more you understand. And whatever you understand will make new things understandable. But those who don't know anything, do not understand such things.

It is certainly conceivable to use this technique for an experience exploit by postponing the reading of books to the very last moment. Keep in mind, though, that experience means something a little different in my mod, because you no longer get style points for free, when you level up.

You will need to get to the Imperial City and attract the Lotus Assassin's attention to get the quest that grants this reward. Find Prefect Jitong in the Market District and promise to look fo the slavetraders. If you bring proof of Chandler Ling's guilt to the Prefect Songtao will sell you this technique in the Scholar's Garden. But if you frame Songtao, you can buy this technique from Chandler Ling on the Golden Way.

The Ironclad Mind

The Ironclad Mind

This technique reduces the focus cost of all your weapon styles - including the ones you have yet to learn.

The Ironclad Mind

Reduces The Focus Cost Of All Weapon Styles For the warrior who knows and understands too little of the world, every confrontation is an isolated event. Through your continous quest for knowledge and understanding you have started to see past the surface and now look upon the world as it came to be, as it is and as it might become. You have learned to read the currents and connections. And so you need far less focus than the uneducated warrior to read the battle and master your weapon.

This technique is a bonus reward for reading all four booksets.
